Executive Director

Reginald Pearman’s career spans over twenty years as an award-winning photojournalist and instructor.


He has worked on staff at The Oakland Tribune, The Associated Press, and WashingtonPost.com. He also served as photographer for U.S. Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman and Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez.


Reginald’s work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and TIME Magazine, and he has photographed assignments for National Geographic Magazine. Among numerous local awards in California, one of the highlights of his career came when he and his work were recognized as part of a Pulitzer Prize-winning team for news photography coverage of the Loma Prieta Earthquake in Santa Cruz, California.


Mr. Pearman is an influential and enthusiastic communicator. He has mentored emerging photographers, lectured at universities, and shared his knowledge with young students—teaching the art of seeing through photography.


He currently directs the Bullis Summer Photography Program and serves as Executive Director of PhotoMath Inc., a visual learning organization that helps students reinforce math and science concepts through digital and traditional photography.
